Tavern Clock Introduction

A view of the Raffety & Walwyn antique clocks galleryRaffety and Walwyn offer collectors and connoisseurs of antique clocks and antique barometers a large selection of the best examples available on the market worldwide.  Our stock consists of fine Queen Anne, Georgian, Regency, and Victorian period English clocks and barometers and continental European timepieces dating from the 17th to the 19th centuries- all crafted in the finest mahogany, walnut, ebony, tortoiseshell, ormolu, brass, or marble. We handle clocks from a diverse range of makers, including examples by the renowned 17th century clockmakers, Thomas Tompion, Daniel Quare, Joseph Knibb and Christopher Gould.

Browsing our web site, you will discover  a broad selection of longcase clocks, bracket clocks, English carriage clocks and mantel clocks, and household, marine barometers and Tavern clocks. Each horological piece has been carefully chosen for its originality, overall quality and decorative appeal- important criteria when considering the purchase of an antique timepiece. All of our antique clocks and barometers are sympathetically restored to the highest standard by specialist experienced craftsmen and we offer a full guarantee as to their authenticity and good working order. Tavern Clocks in our collection include examples by John Johnson, Jason Cox, John Draper and John Everett. Also a very rare James Douglass spring driven Tavern Clock timepiece with arched top and a white wooden shield dial with moulded mahogany surround is in our collection. This Tavern Clock has an 8-Day movement with A-shaped plates.

Raffety, owned by Nigel Raffety and Howard Walwyn, has been based in Kensington Church Street, London for 22 years.  We are members of the British Antique Dealers Association and have worked diligently to earn an excellent reputation among horological collectors, museum authorities, interior decorators, and the antiques trade worldwide.
